Boxwalla Beauty Box December 2020 Review

Let's peek inside!
Blüh Alchemy Multi-C Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $140.00
I have tried a few things from Blüh and I always enjoy them. I also appreciate the lovely packaging in white glass with beautiful blue botanical linework. This rather expensive bottle of serum has a bright yellow gel serum inside. And, as its name suggests, this little bottle is bursting with vitamin C. Why is vitamin C great for your skincare routine? Oh, there are a few reasons. First, vitamin C is a brightening powerhouse. So if you have sunspots, hyperpigmentation, or just uneven skin tone, this is a wonderful ingredient for you. Secondly, it boosts collagen production. This is a big deal for skin that is aging! Third, it is a massive source of antioxidants that protect skin from free-radicals that age it and basically wreak havoc. The downside to vitamin C is that it is terribly unstable. This bottle has a vitamin C derivative (Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate) that is incredibly stable and has been shown to have the same big three benefits of vitamin C. Win-win! I like to use a serum like this after cleansing and toning but before my final cream. This feels a little slimy going on but thankfully, absorbs well. I like to let my serums chill for a few minutes before I massage in my night creams. It lets them get some work done solo and also prevents pilling. In addition to that vitamin C, this serum also has loads of other goodies like antioxidant-rich botanical extracts, peptides, and fatty oils. It does have a scent created by essential oils (lavender and geranium) but I loved all of it!
Liquid sunshine!
Live Botanical Sanctuary Barrier Balm, 30 mL - Retail Value $42.00
If you are dry like I am, and your face just gets tight and cracked in the winter (misery) this is a dream balm. It is FULL of raw fatty butters from Murumuru, Tucuma, and other things I have never heard of. But, I am into it! This balm is going to feel heavy, and it does leave behind a shine, so I recommend it for the evenings. But oh, wow, does it soothe red and wind-whipped skin. The butters just melt into my face in the best way. Complementing the butters (I like the word butter, sorry) is a blend of carrot seed oil, jojoba, lecithin, and mushroom extract. This balm is essential oil free but does have a very cozy natural scent. If you find this too heavy for your face, try it on your hands, dry elbows, knees, and legs. Anywhere you choose to use this it will thank you!
Blüh Alchemy Active Relief Body Oil, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $68.00
My last item was what felt like a super-sized white glass bottle of body oil. Again, absolutely love this packaging. It's heavy, feels chic, and has such pretty floral designs. I have discussed a few times before how (for whatever reason) lotion breaks my legs out but body oils seem to leave them hydrated and bump-free. So of course I was thrilled with this nicely sized bottle. The oil inside is a blend of some of the most delightful oils: bran, sunflower, camellia, sesame, and tamanu! The stars of the show are easily the Hinoki Wood oil (distilled from Japanese Cypress trees and considered sacred) and holy basil. These give this oil such a comforting and natural scent reminiscent of woods, earth, and warmth. My favorite way to use this is straight out of the shower. Just a few pumps into my palms and my legs are quickly covered in this soothing oil. This might be the highlight of the box for me!
Verdict: This Boxwalla Beauty box was designed around winter skin, and it shows! All three items were utterly perfect and so nourishing. It was hard to pick a fave, but the gold medal goes to that body oil. I am so excited to own this!! The vitamin C serum feels luxe and I am excited that the ingredient list was so great for a serum type that is often super unstable. Finally, that buttery balm was also a win. It was soothing and protecting, which is exactly what my face needs this time of year. The total value of this $49.95 box lands at $250 which is awesome!
