Ipsy Glam Bag

Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is “It’s A Self-Love Affair.” The bag is really cute, with a smooth baby pink fabric that looks a touch more luxurious than it feels. I am a huge fan of the theme in general. A day for self-love is a treat that’s often overlooked by those who need it most. I’m interested in seeing what lovely self-care products have been included in this month’s selection.

Included is a product card that features a list of the products and beauty tips.

Now, on to the items!

REN CLEAN SKINCARE Radiance Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic, 15 ml - Estimated Retail Value $3.30

I’ve been wanting to try this brand for a while, so I’m thrilled to see it included. Ren Clean Skincare’s Radiance Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic has been a revelation for my sensitive skin. Despite the ‘daily’ in the product’s name, I’ve found my sweet spot using it two or three times each week. My skin is what I like to call ‘‘ultra-sensitive,’’ and keeping my usage down helps me to steer clear of any irritation while still reaping all the tonic’s benefits. It’s like a magic potion that exfoliates ever so gently, leaving my skin not just feeling soft but visibly brightened and pores refined. The tonic’s lightweight formula, coupled with its refreshing scent, makes each application a luxury experience. An essential step for me is following up with a rich moisturizer, or else I’ll experience mild dryness. It’s basically a little detox session for my face, and I’m a fan.

KVOSSNYC Fairy Dust Pressed Highlighter in Starkissed, 1.8 g - Estimated Retail Value $16.80

I like highlighters, but this Fairy Dust Pressed Highlighter in Starkissed from KVOSSNYC has become a true gem in my makeup arsenal. Its creamy texture is a dream to apply, gliding along the skin for that perfect, smooth finish. What sets this product apart is its versatility; whether I’m going for a full glam look or a more natural vibe, this highlighter can handle all of the above. The sheer, glittery finish it leaves is stunning, allowing me to build up the shimmer to my heart’s content. I appreciate how well the shade works with my skin tone, and the unique formula’s inclusion of artichoke leaf extract is the cherry on top. Definitely one of my new go-tos for a touch of radiance anytime, anywhere.

MOBEAUTY Set It Up Setting Spray, 30 ml - Estimated Retail Value $9.00

This is the first time I’ve seen a setting spray in a subscription box in a while, and I couldn’t be happier. Infused with hyaluronic acid, this Set it Up Setting Spray from MoBeauty is a secret weapon for maintaining that dewy, fresh look all day long. No issues with dryness that I’ve experienced with other sprays. I’m especially loving the product’s lightweight formula; it feels like a barely-there veil over makeup, yet it works wonders in locking everything in place without any smudging. Bonus points on this new-to-me brand, which is both cruelty-free and ethically sourced. It’s refreshing to discover a brand that not only cares about their impact, but also offers high-quality products at an accessible price. Above all, though, I so rarely receive setting sprays in a travel size and I just ran out of my previous one, so hooray for me!

BYROE Beet Glow Boosting Serum, 10 ml - Estimated Retail Value $30.67

Byroe is a great brand and one of my faves. The Byroe Beet Glow Boosting Serum is like magic in a bottle, blending a cocktail of powerhouse ingredients. With a base of upcycled beet, a 7% PHA blend, tri-peptide complex, and panthenol, it’s not just a serum; it’s a skin revolution. The quick reduction of redness and irritation this brings to my skin after a day or two of using is noticeable. The word ‘soothing’ barely does justice to the comfort it brings. It’s like a gentle exfoliant, whisking away dead skin without any harshness or irritation, leaving behind only smooth, glowing skin. However, a sample size for the equivalent of thirty dollars is a hard pill to swallow, despite the results. Love the product, not the price.

MEMOIRE ARCHIVES Wild Flower Field Body Lotion, 30 ml - Estimated Retail Value $10.14

My skin can always use more hydration, and while I prefer body oil to body lotion, I’m always down for trying a new hydrating product. This Wild Flower Field Body Lotion from Memoire Archives has been a mixed bag for me. The texture is lovely, with a silky smooth application that melts into my skin, leaving behind no trace of greasiness, just a layer of pure hydration. A dream come true for skin that craves hydration. Now, the scent is unfortunately where my enthusiasm wanes a bit. As someone sensitive to scents, the intense floral aroma feels overwhelming, like being enveloped in a cloud of perfume. Additionally, my eczema patch didn’t appreciate this product, so I’d caution those with similar skin concerns. So, while the lotion excels in providing hydration without the greasy aftermath, it’s just an okay product for me.

The Verdict

This was an awesome month for Ipsy Glam Bag! The Byroe serum was the highlight for me. I’ve always loved the brand, and this serum does an excellent job of revitalizing skin. I’ll be using this down to the very last drop. Ren Clean Skincare’s glow tonic is a similar product but one that’s a bit more potent; it does a fine job exfoliating, but it really shines in the way it brightens and tightens the skin. I can always use a travel-sized setting spray, and this one has come just in time. The spray sets makeup for the long haul without any smudging whatsoever. The highlighter from KVOSSNYC is another hit with me. It’s buildable, smooth, and leaves behind a stunning shimmer that looks great with or without makeup. Love the natural glow of this product. Lastly, the body lotion from Memoire Archives… while I can always use additional hydration, this one leaves me feeling cocooned in a cloud of perfume that I could do without. As far as texture goes, it’s lusciously hydrating, but the fragrances make it a bit irritating to my eczema patch and possibly other skin concerns. Overall, I thought this was a great bag! The product variability is great, geared more towards skin care rather than makeup (my preference), and the value is there.
