Happy Margot Elena month! This quarter there was no information card or booklet listing the items included or their prices. But, one great thing about this box is I know the value is always there. Plus, the products are always easy to find on the Margot Elena website. Some of the products I received this quarter are the same as last quarter, just in a different scent or Margot Elena line. The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Body Wash — Retail Value $23

Carrot oil is loaded up with vitamins A, B, D, and E, offering a rejuvenating glow to skin. I don't have enough experience with this ingredient to vouch for that firsthand, but I have encountered this claim a number of times. This wash also contains coconut oil, cocoa butter, and honey, offering a blast of awesome natural power players in one product. I can say that after just a few uses I really like this product. That said, this is my first go at trying a "shower oil," and I'm finding there is a bit of a learning curve figuring out how best to use it without wasting any. It does lather nicely with just a small amount, but it's quite runny, so you can't be haphazard about it! The scent, as always with Margot Elena products, is perfumey. But it's an incredibly tasteful, earthy floral scent that mellows nicely after you've rinsed it off. I am willing to bet I'll be stocking back up on this unique body wash once the bottle is empty—but, yay, with a full-size product here that probably won't be for a while.
The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Whipped Body Butter — Estimated Retail Value $40

If you want to keep the sweet scent going into your day, you might slather on this whipped body butter after your shower! In my three quarters of receiving Margot Elena's Discovery Box, this is my third jar of body butter. A little goes a long way with body butter, so I'm actually still on the first jar I received 6 months ago. But also each new scent excites me and makes me want to press pause on my current jar, and enjoy the new one. So I guess I'm in a perpetual rotation of body butter scents. Maybe now that the cold weather has arrived where I live, and I'm reaching for nourishing creams every day, I will start to go through them more quickly. And like I said last quarter, the grand prize for finishing a jar of body butter is getting to use the jar itself as a pretty storage container. I'm declaring 2022 as my year of organization, so that (and smelling good) will be my motivation for movin' through these.
Library of Flowers Forget-Me-Not Shower Gel — Retail Value $23

Last quarter I made big claims that I love receiving shower gel in subscription boxes because I know I'll use it. I think the genie was listening! I still have some of last quarter's tube of Lollia Wish body wash left, plus the shower oil you just saw above, so I haven't broken the foil seal on this body wash. But from what I can tell through the seal, this scent has a powdery floral vibe.
There's a part of me that's excited to store this tube in my little bathroom basket and pull it out down the line, and another part of me that hopes ME takes a break from body wash next quarter (and maybe sends a candle instead!) so I have a chance to get through what I already have. Of course, it always stands that these products are gorgeous for gifting, and I may end up doing just that with this tube. Especially because this year my family members have all agreed we're a little burnt out on "stuff," so it would be nice to gift something that someone in my life can use up.
TokyoMilk Finest Perfumed Soap — Retail Value $10

Another quarter, another bar of this high-quality triple-milled shea butter soap. I ended up giving last season's bar to a new friend. Just because. It felt right. She was pumped. So, now I have my back stock replenished with another bar! Just like always, this soap has notes of "Crushed Citrus, Jasmine, Crisp Greens & Neroli," and the combo of scents is wonderfully subtle. The same formula comes in about two dozen wrapper designs, so when a new bar comes, I know just what to expect, and can simply delight in the surprise of which fun design was selected for me.
TokyoMilk Girl Boss, Whoopsie Daisy, and Drama Queen Signature Stationery Greeting Cards — Retail Value $16.50 (sold separately at $5.50 each)
This grouping of three blank-inside greeting cards is another replenishment item from last quarter. They have vintage-y illustrations topped with a glittery finish and typewriter-style text that's quirky and fun. I love stationery and sending cards to people, but I admit I'm a little bored with these ones. I see on the ME that there are some really cute Christmas-themed cards and I wish I would've been sent those! I'm particularly fond of this punny "Marie Christmas" one. I'm racking my brain here...they have six holiday cards currently on their site (4 are Christmas-themed and 2 are general holiday cards), but maybe the timing of their production didn't work out with this quarter's subscription? Or maybe they wanted to keep the winter box purely "winter" and not "holiday"? I'm just speculating, of course. The cards I got are cute enough, and they'll get used.
Petite Treat Handcreme Trio: Lollia Always In Rose, Lollia In Love, and TokyoMilk Gin & Rosewater — Retail Value $25.50 (sold separately at $8.50 each)

This trio of tiny handcremes came with on-the-nose timing, just as my heater kicked on and started to parch my hands. These tiny 0.5 oz tubes would make perfect stocking stuffers (can you imagine how pumped the Margot Elena subscriber with 3 daughters must be right now?) but I am instead stuffing them in every corner of my life, ha! I have one in the car, one in the diaper bag, and one on my nightstand. I love that all three are equally beautiful-smelling, but with different approaches to their floral song, so my nose can get a little lovely variety throughout my days. Choosing a favorite is no simple task. I am a true rose-scent-lover, so Lollia Always In Rose is so pure and inviting to me. But, the lavender touch to In Love and the citrusy bright notes of Gin & Rosewater are also feeling so spot-on. So, I surrender, I am just so happy to have them all.

One thing had me scratching my head about the experience of breaking into these little creme tubes, though. One of the three tubes is plastic. It had a little silver seal on the top of it, under the lid, with a tab so I could pull it right off. The other two tubes are metal. The two metal ones had their seal, like, built into their structure. There was no tab to pull it off, and no pointy part of the lid to puncture it. So I had to grab a pencil to puncture the opening, which then got lotion on my pencil, and then when I wiped it onto my hand it got pencil on my hand. Not the end of the world, but not an awesome experience either. If I had bought these tubes for $8.50, which isn't cheap for 0.5 ounces of product, I would've been really irritated.
TokyoMilk Radiant Gem Parfum — Retail Value $42
Happy dance! Of all the beauty Margot Elena offers, TokyoMilk scents are my favorites because they're moodier and especially unique. My personal narrative is one of general over-excitedness and song-and-dance expression, so I think I like the more enigmatic scents to balance myself out. Ha! This particular aroma is a bit brighter than many TokyoMilk offerings with a little lemon balm in there, but it's met with amber and musk counterparts to keep its vibe a little lower. It's a gloomy, rainy December day here in Western Pennsylvania, and this Radiant Gem scent shifting under my nose as it mellows on my chest is the primary input keeping my spirits high. I'm thrilled to add this parfum to my growing TokyoMilk perfume collection.
The Cottage Greenhouse Sugar Beet & Blossom Handcreme — Listed Value $26

I was so drawn to the earthiness of the rooty beet illustration on this handcreme tube, and I've been receiving beets in my weekly CSA lately so I have been immersed in beet recipes and flavor combos lately. When I took the lid off this tube to smell it, I found that it is very blossom-forward, which made me realize that I've encountered this scent before. My first Margot Elena box contained a Sugar Beet & Blossom bath soak that I also thought smelled mainly floral. I think I was a little more forgiving of the lack of beet aroma last time around; this time I was craving a little more complexity from this creme. But man, a gigantic tube of any ME product still feels like a score. I'm going to pass this tube along to my neighbor who rarely treats herself to lovely things like this, and take joy in knowing it will be meaningful to her.
