Nomadik is a lifestyle subscription box for outdoor lovers. Every month, they send 3-5 items for outdoor adventures including gear, snacks, and multi-use items for $34.99 + shipping. They promise a $60 average retail value. First-time subscribers will choose their first box. Future gear and kit themes are based on a variety of factors, such as: seasonality, available inventory from brand partners, interests, etc. But rest assured, the value, quality, and quantity of the items in all variations of the kits are comparable each month. You can skip a month, cancel, or reactivate your account easily.
There is also a quarterly version of this subscription. It costs $150 four times a year and promises a $200+ value for each installment.
This box was sent to us at no cost to review. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
Nomadik's tried and true monthly box is always a welcome sight. I like that you can immediately tell this is an outdoor box. Every box comes with a small tri-fold with information about the items and some other info or deals. There is also always a neat Nomadik sticker.
Inside The Nomadik "Dawn-To-Dusk Adventure" Box
DryFoxCo Packable 16L Backpack - Retail Price $35
At first I thought this was an ultralight towel from DryFoxCo, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a full 16L backpack. It packs down into an attached carrying pouch that is only 3 by 5-1/2 inches and weighs only 4 oz. It has two water bottle pockets, reinforced waterproof zippers, and mesh straps. The website says it can hold 20+ pounds of gear. It's made of water-resistant nylon tent material. This would be great to pack when traveling to nature or a city, if you're going to be day hiking and don't want to carry a big pack. Or just keep in your car for that impromptu walk.
Waboba Wingman Silicone Flying Disc - Retail Price $8
This 6-inch disc from Waboba is 100% silicon. In retrospect, I should have taken a photo to illustrate how flexible it is, but the packaging says you can fold it into your pocket-and that's no lie! Despite how soft and foldable it is, the disc flies nice. The site says it flies more than 130 feet. This would be great to just throw around the campsite, in the pool, or even in the house without much worry about hurting anyone or anything. This will be good for my kids to learn to throw.
Note: The site says it's "not a water toy" because it "does not float," but I think that's half the fun.
Bookman Urban Visibility Hanging Reflector - Retail Price $7
Like most emergency stuff, this is one of those things I never think to buy for myself, but once I have it, I'm glad I do. This is a reflector from Bookman that you can hang from your pack, jacket, or... anything. I think this is a really smart, cool, and simple item. It's great for walkers, kids, and even dogs.
Tini Cool Cucumber Deodorant - Retail Price $5
If your first thought was, "Cool cucumber mints sound delectable," you are not alone. This DEODORANT from Tini faked me out as well. I literally just found out as I was beginning to write this. This travel-size deodorant is great to throw in a carry-on or purse for an emergency use. I'm not sure how it would fare in a hot car. I will say, it smells delectable.
The Verdict
Another decent installment from Nomadik. I wasn't really looking for any of these items, but I guess that's why one signs up for a subscription box like this. All these item will get used when the time is right, but when that time is... who knows? I'm going to say the disc is my favorite item. My friends and I are already throwing a disc around, but we've never used one like this. I think it'll be fun. The backpack is awesome for day hikes or taking the kids to a baseball game. I just need to find the right use for it. And the reflector is already on my hiking pack. The deodorant was a surprise and I think I will put it somewhere that I may need to freshen up in a pinch. Overall, I was happy with this box. I wasn't exactly blown away, but I don't think there is anything I would change. I think that's a win.
To Wrap Up
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your first box will be your choice. More from Nomadik:
Just sign up, fill out your profile, and pick your first theme. Future boxes are curated based on: your profile, seasonality and product surveys. If you order by the 15th, your monthly box ships by the 24th of this month. Otherwise it will ship by the 24th of next month. Future shipments (after the first shipment) will ship by the 24th. When you sign up, you'll be charged and your subscription will automatically renew on the 4th of your renewal month. You'll be charged 1 time per month and you'll get 1 box per month.
Value Breakdown: At $40 ($34.99 + $4.99 shipping to PA) for this box, each of the 4 items has an average cost of $10. This box has a retail value of around $55, which is below the promised value. I'd like to see some more value. Even a second reflector or a full stick of deodorant would have gone a long way.
