Rocksbox Jewelry Review June 2024

Can you believe July is here? The year is flying by, and I rented earrings that I felt reflected my mood for fun in the sun!

Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and rental service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy whatever they love at a discounted price. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your ever-growing wish list. Members can keep and wear the three pieces they receive for as long as they want, or they can switch out sets whenever they'd like. Rocksbox also offers a monthly credit so you can buy the pieces for less.

Concerned about cleanliness? Each piece is sterilized with alcohol jewelry cleaner using medical grade products and handled with jewelry experts wearing gloves.

This is a review of the monthly plan for $21, which includes shipping to the US only.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Just like other subscription boxes, when I signed up for Rocksbox I had to set up a style profile that asked me questions like my metal preference, and which necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring styles I liked the most.

Let's check out this month's delivery!

What I Received

Mignonne Gavigan Safi Studs, Retail Value $105, Member Price $105

About this item: Preppy meets trendy with these bloom-like pearl studs. Crafted in 14k gold-plated brass with freshwater pearl petals and a semi-precious lapis stone pistil, these earrings weigh in on the heavier side and are 1" long.

Condition: Brand new with tags.

Review: They didn't work with all my outfits, but when I rocked these statement and totally unique studs, I got lots of compliments!

Mignonne Gavigan Didi Hoops, Retail Price $115, Member Price $115

About this item: These tiny hoops featuring multicolored stones—Semi-Precious Pink Agate, Blue Lace agate, Lapis, Orange Aventurine, Howlite and Amazonite—are an update to Mignonne Gavigan's Petra earrings. Rendered in 14k gold-plated glass with a stainless-steel post, these lightweight hoops were inspired by the color vases and potteries found in Marrakesh.

Condition: Like new, but the post was slightly bent.

Review: I hadn't checked the size of the hoops before I requested them, but I was pleasantly surprised. They are much tinier than most of the hoops I've worn recently, and I wore them everywhere! My only issue was that the one hoop was bent, and I almost sent them back because I was scared to lose them, but I fixed it myself!

Sierra Winter American Woman Hoops, Retail Value $169, Member Price $169

About this item: These bold and shiny hoops are crafted in gold vermeil with two smaller hoops surrounding one larger one. Each hoop is thin and delicate, lightweight and measures at 1.25". They're ultra-versatile and stylish too!

Condition: Like new.

Review: I never heard of Sierra Winter, but now I'm sold! Due to the simplicity of the design, I got the most wear out of these pretty hoops! I really liked them and considered buying them, but they were too pricey AND I already have too many pairs of hoops.

The Verdict

While things have been well with Rocksbox, I have two complaints. First of all, where's their app? It's 2024, not 2004, and having an app would make my scrolling, choosing and even shopping so much easier! And secondly, there's no search option on their site. Whenever I want to find an item by a certain designer or with a specific name, I have to go through all the steps of filtering by brand, category, metal color, etc. and it's frustrating. Or plug the information I have into Google and hope it pulls up!

Come on Rocksbox, it's time to step into 2008!

Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21 per month. At retail, the three pieces would've cost me $389.00. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing including the buy-all-three-items $10 discount, the $21 of Shine Credit (doesn't look like this applied this time), and my Rose Gold Rewards discount of $19.45, the total price for the three items goes down to $338.55.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every box is different and packed based on the customer's tastes and what's available at the time. You can, however, help guide the Rocksbox stylists and add your favorite pieces to your wishlist!

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
