The latest clothing collection from Stitch Fix is more than just some gorgeous clothing. The Stitch Fix Elevate Collection puts five designers of color front and center on the clothing subscription service's website and in both subscriptions and the brand's new Freestyle purchasing service.
Elevate was born last year in the wake of the George Floyd protests as a grant and mentorship program opened up to fashion designers of color. Among its goals? "Creating an ecosystem to support and grow entrepreneurs of color to scale their businesses," according to the folks at Stitch Fix. That meant giving designers accepted into the program a $25,000 grant, along with support from various members of the Stitch Fix team, access to the company's marketing, and of course their designs featured on Stitch Fix itself.
Now the first five Elevate designers have been revealed — and their clothing is available on Stitch Fix. We took a look at some of their gorgeous additions!
Here's what (and who) is in the collection:
Elevate Winners
Bettina Benson, owner of Chloe Kristyn
Chloe Krysten's clothes are described by Stitch Fix as a way to "feel empowered by your clothing through effortlessly elegant silhouettes," and the company has nine different options to choose from including pants, blazers, and more. Their Nicole Cutout dress, seen above, takes the little black dress and, well, elevates it!
Busayo Olupona, owner of Busayo
Busayo specializes in African prints, and their portion of the Stitch Fix Elevate collection is a mix of colorful dresses plus a brightly colored top. This dress, for example, is the Ore Scoop Neck Dress, a dark purple a-line dress with bright flowers that pop off the fabric.
Diarra Bousso, owner of Diarrablu
Diarrablu is a brand that has inclusive sizing, and here's how Stitch Fix describes them: "A conscious contemporary brand merging artisans & algorithms." Two Diarrablu wrap blouses are available in the Elevate collection, including this $135 Aida Wrap sized up to 3X.
Robin Sirleaf, owner of Sarep + Rose
The sole accessories brand in the Elevate Collection, Sarep + Rose offers eight additions to the collection including bucket bags, totes, a Stitch Fix exclusive mini bag, and even a fanny pack, er, crosspack. The color-blocked Slender Kenya Tote, seen above, retails for $220.
Jamela Acheampong, owner of Kahmune
Described as a brand that offers true nude footwear designed for all skin tones, dark to fair, Kahmune is part of the Elevate collection but their shoes are currently unavailable.
